Webinar – Rise of the Indo-Pacific?

On October 30th (12:30-14:00pm CET) the online seminar will take place, titled Rise of the Indo-Pacific?. The event is organized by the Department of International Organizations and Global Security Studies of the Institute of Political Studies, Polish Academy of Sciences.

Does the rise of the Indo Pacific constitute the most significant geopolitical shift in recent history? How has the concept of this region come into being? The Indo-Pacific, a region stretching from the eastern coast of Africa to the Western Pacific, is undergoing a profound transformation Therefore, this seminar seeks to shed light on the changing dynamics of the Indo Pacific, including the increasing influence of major powers, the consequences of their rivalry, evolving trade relationships, and the strategic importance of the region The seminar aims to delve into the key factors and implications of Indo Pacific rise to foster a better understanding of its multifaceted dimensions.

  • Aleksandra Jaskólska is is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies, University of Warsaw Her research interests include Indian politics and regional dynamics of South Asia.
  • Catherine Jones is a senior fellow at the School of International Relations, St Andrews University Her research explores politics and security in East Asia and the development of Southeast Asian states.
  • Barbara Kratiuk is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies, University of Warsaw Barbara’s research interests revolve around international relations in Southeast Asia and great power politics in Asia.
  • Shankari Sundararaman is a professor at the Centre for Indo Pacific Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University Shankari’s research interests include international relations in Southeast Asia and the politics of the Pacific.

  • Anna Grzywacz is an assistant professor at the Institute of Political Studies of Polish Academy of Sciences, Poland. Her research interests include ASEAN and Southeast Asian politics.
