Doctoral Studies

Pursuant to Art. 198 of the Act of 20 July 2018, Law on Higher Education and Science, since 2019, doctoral students have been educated within the framework of the institution established by the Act – the doctoral school.

Signing the agreement on the establishment of a joint doctoral school of the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology PAN, ISP PAN and the Institute of Psychology PAN.

On 8 April 2019, three institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences: the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology, the Institute of Psychology and the Institute of Political Studies signed an agreement on jointly running a doctoral school: the Graduate School for Social Research – link to the website.

Pursuant to the concluded agreement, the Graduate School for Social Research will start education in the discipline of political and administration sciences (along with sociology, psychology and philosophy). The doctoral studies guarantee a high-quality interdisciplinary educational programme, cooperation with outstanding professors and participation in research teams at the ISP PAN.

Student enrolment in the field of political and administration sciences will be carried out by a commission appointed by the Director of the ISP PAN. A person who holds a master’s degree or an equivalent degree (or has a diploma confirming the completion of higher education abroad, giving the right to continue education) and has a good command of the English language may apply for admission to the doctoral studies. Education in the field of political and administration sciences is supervised by representatives of the ISP PAN on the School Council: Professor Piotr Osęka (Deputy Director of the ISP PAN) and Professor Ryszard Żelichowski.
