We are delighted and honoured to announce that it is:
Prof. Aleida Assmann from the Faculty of Literature, Art and Media at the University of Konstanz
One of the world’s leading scholars of cultural memory. Author of seminal works on media history, reading theory, collective memory, and trauma and the Holocaust. Winner of the Peace Prize of the German Booksellers’ Association.
Suummer School participants are invited to attend the lecture: “Historical Transformations of the European Dream”.
The European Community as an experiment dependent on collective will – surprisingly enduring, capable of historical transformation and potentially inspiring to other parts of the world grappling with wars and political polarisation.
She will also take part in the workshop: “Can the past be repaired?” A workshop dedicated to countries where deep divisions within national narratives and historical memory have become a pressing issue – and the question of whether and how the past can be “repaired”.
